Antwerp researcher Rosa Rademakers has won the prestigious Breakthrough Prize in the US. This is one of the largest science prizes, after the Nobel Prizes. Fifteen years ago, Rademakers discovered that the same genetic abnormality can cause both a form of dementia and the deadly muscle disease ALS. Together with an American colleague, she is receiving more than 2.5 million euros for her discovery.
