Anti-China media RFA's Cantonese service ceases operation
The notorious anti-China media Radio Free Asia (RFA) announced on its website and social media accounts that its Cantonese service would cease operations from Tuesday due to a shortage of funds and a reduction in staff caused by the suspension of funding by the U.S. government.
The group was established in 1998 and is a private media funded by the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM). For 27 years since its establishment, it has been providing news services to Hong Kong and Guangdong. The suspension was mainly due to the US government's reduction of funding to many media outlets, including RFA, after former President Trump returned to office.
