Anthropic says its model Claude is helping to build the next version of itself
Anthropic said Claude now leads 26% of its research and development work and remains under human supervision as it adds oversight measures.
- On Thursday, Anthropic announced that Claude is helping develop the company's next, more intelligent model while operating under close human supervision.
- Claude currently leads 26 per cent of Anthropic's research and development, completing tasks "end-to-end from a high-level prompt" while collaborating on about 90 per cent of work.
- Six months after Claude performed no research tasks in February, the company reported approximately 30,000 agents conducting research and engineering work as of August.
- Anthropic urged other developers to share metrics on recursive self-improvement, arguing that accelerating development could make it "more challenging for humans to understand or control these systems."
- As Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and other tech leaders debate slowing development, the company recently committed to embedding external third-party evaluators to monitor safety efforts.
