Anthony Joshua's driver charged over Nigeria crash that killed two
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode faces four charges including causing death by dangerous driving after a crash that killed two of Anthony Joshua’s team members on a busy Nigerian highway.
- Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, driver, was charged on Friday at Sagamu Magistrate Court after a crash that injured former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and killed two team members.
- On Monday the Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck on a busy Ogun State highway linking Lagos and Ibadan after preliminary investigations found excessive speed and a burst tyre.
- Prosecutors brought four charges against Kayode, including causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a valid driver's licence, and bail was set at 5 million naira with two sureties.
- On Wednesday Joshua was discharged from hospital after treatment, and he and his mother visited the funeral home where a government source suggested remains may have been repatriated to the United Kingdom.
- Amid the investigation, Kayode has remained in police custody since Thursday, and Oluseyi Babaseyi, police spokesman, said he was remanded pending meeting bail conditions.
