Another tough week at Idaho gas pumps

Drivers face record diesel prices and a national average near $4.15 a gallon this week, driven by global supply disruptions tied to the ongoing war with Iran and new U.S. efforts to secure heavy crude.
Tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains far below normal, while Gulf Coast refineries struggle with a mismatch between capacity for heavy crude and lighter shale oil produced domestically, said Matt Coday, president of the Oil and Gas Workers Association.

Fresh strikes on energy infrastructure pushed crude back toward $100 a barrel, adding upward pressure on fuel prices. Coday noted the administration is balancing competing pressures to prioritize American oil workers while managing consumer costs.
Trump publicly tied future fuel prices to the outcome of the war with Iran, claiming on Truth Social that oil prices will drop precipitously to $3 a gallon, and eventually below $2, once the conflict is won.
