Thrissur Sees Another Fatal Crash as Family of Three Including Child Killed After Car Hits Bike
Police said the driver fled after the crash and was booked under culpable homicide and drunken-driving charges.
- On Saturday night, a speeding car struck a motorcycle near Excel Public School in Kunnamkulam, killing a family of three. Victims Muneer, 39, his wife Shafna, 28, and their three-year-old son Muhammad Ameen Ibac were traveling toward Guruvayur when the collision occurred.
- The driver of car KL-46-U-6001 fled the scene after ramming the motorcycle from behind at excessive speed, Kunnamkulam police reported. Authorities allege the driver was intoxicated and returning from a bar in the area.
- Investigators booked the driver under Sections 105 and 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, plus Sections 134, 185, and 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Charges include culpable homicide, drunken driving, and failure to provide medical assistance.
- Authorities transported the victims' remains, all natives of Edakkazhiyur, to the Government Taluk Hospital in Kunnamkulam. Police confirmed the bodies will be released to relatives following required inquest and postmortem examinations.
- This tragedy occurred just one day after eight engineering students died in Kaipamangalam when their vehicle rammed a Maharashtra-registered lorry. Those victims were students from PSNA College of Engineering and Technology.
