- Rising tensions involving Iran and the Middle East forced postponements of Bahrain and Saudi Arabian races in mid-March, reducing the current season's calendar from 24 to 22 events. German news agency reported this reduction created scheduling gaps.
- Youth and Sports Minister Mohd Taufiq Johari confirmed the ministry received early indications about hosting the race. The Sepang International Circuit previously held the Malaysian Grand Prix from 1999 to 2017.
- Malaysia and Turkiye are among candidates to host a race on Oct 4 to replace the Bahrain Grand Prix, as organizers struggle to reschedule the original event for early October.
- If conflict disrupts final races in Qatar on Nov 29 and Abu Dhabi on Dec 6, Formula 1 management is evaluating alternative circuits including Portimao in Portugal, according to AFP.
