- Portuguese construction group Mota-Engil secured a 30-year concession for the Dilolo-Sakania line with an indicative US$1.258 billion investment, while the Congolese state retains at least 10 percent of the project company and collects a 7.5 percent royalty.
- By rehabilitating the 1,004.5-kilometre line, the project aims to lower logistics costs, which President Tshisekedi noted can account for up to 30 percent of the final price of Congolese copper and cobalt.
- The corridor aligns economic interests within the African Continental Free Trade Area and the Southern African Development Community , facilitating local resource processing and fostering growth across Southern Africa.
