RCB Coach Andy Flower Faces BCCI's Wrath for Using Audible Obscenity; Heavy Punishment Imposed
Andy Flower admitted the offence and accepted a sanction after an aggressive exchange with the fourth umpire during RCB’s chase of 167.
On Monday, the IPL fined Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower 15% of his match fee for a Level 1 code of conduct breach during the match against Mumbai Indians in Raipur.
Flower breached Article 2.3 of the code, which relates to the 'use of an audible obscenity during a match,' stemming from an aggressive verbal exchange with the fourth umpire.
The incident occurred during the 17.2 over of RCB's pursuit of 167, with Match Referee Amit Sharma imposing the sanction after Flower admitted to the offense.
Despite the incident, RCB secured a last-ball victory against Mumbai Indians, with Rasikh Salam running for a double to chase down the 167-run target by two wickets.
The win propelled RCB to the top of the points table, while Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants were officially eliminated from playoff contention.
