SNP Invites Burnham to Party Conference Amid Scotland Visit Reports
Burnham is expected to call for powers to move from Holyrood to local and regional authorities as the SNP meets in Aberdeen.
On Friday, Prime Minister Andy Burnham will visit Aberdeen during the SNP conference to promote a devolution plan transferring powers from Holyrood to local authorities.
The Scottish Government's proposal to replace 32 local authorities with six to 10 regional authorities and 120 to 160 community authorities forms the backdrop for Burnham's intervention.
SNP depute leader Keith Brown claimed Burnham's tenure is "defined by Scottish independence," while the party attacked his economic record as mortgage rates hit 6%.
Brown invited Burnham to the conference, calling it the "perfect and natural place" for him to set out a legal process for Scottish independence.
The Government maintains a second independence referendum remains "off limits," though Burnham says he remains "utterly determined to prove" critics wrong about his Union stance.
