Romanian Prosecutors Add Hate Speech Against Women to Andrew Tate Investigation

Prosecutors say Tate promoted speeches on social media from 2021 to 2024 that instigated hatred and discrimination against women.

  • On Thursday, Romanian prosecutors extended the criminal investigation into Andrew Tate by adding charges of inciting hatred and discrimination against women based on speeches promoted on social media during 2021-2024.
  • Since December 2022, Tate and his brother Tristan have been under investigation in Romania on charges including human trafficking, trafficking of minors, and forming an organised criminal group with four other suspects.
  • Regarding the new charges, Tate said on social media platform X, "DIICOT in Romania is attempting to charge me with speech violation crimes for jokes I've made on my emergency meeting podcasts." Both have denied all wrongdoing.
  • On Wednesday, the Crown Prosecution Service said Tate faces 10 criminal charges in Britain, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain.
  • A Romanian court ruled the Tate brothers will be extradited to Britain to face pending arrest warrants only after Romanian trial proceedings finish, establishing a clear legal timeline for potential transfer.
