- The deceased officer was 29 years old and had served with the department for two years. Holbrook noted the officer is survived by a wife and two young children, stating, 'We will lean on each other in this tragic time.'
- Authorities have closed Southeast Park and asked the public to avoid the area while first responders continue their work. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting with assistance from the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
- WACH FOX confirmed with Deputy Chief Melron Kelly that a suspect was also shot during the encounter. Further briefings regarding the investigation will be forthcoming, Holbrook indicated, though he did not take questions.
