Customs officers at the Port of Marseille seized nearly 16 tons of contraband cigarettes in a container destined for the Netherlands. A record seizure, the result of targeting at-risk containers.
Sixteen tonnes of tobacco were intercepted by customs officers from the port of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) on 19 January 2026. On leaving for the Netherlands, the packages had been produced in Turkey.
