The government coalition from ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS has agreed on an energy crisis mechanism to cover electricity prices in the event of a crisis. The working price of electricity for households is to be limited at exploding prices at ten cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). In addition, a reduced industrial electricity price for energy-intensive companies was decided in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.
Should the electricity price rise above 16.5 cents per kWh, the capping should enter into force at ten cents.
VIENNA. As soon as the average electricity price for end customers increases to more than 16.5 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), the price for a certain basic consumption is to be capped to net ten cents. The government agreed on this in the course of the negotiation of the industrial electricity package.
