UNITED STATES, AUG 7 – The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is stolen 39 times more often than average due to a key fob cloning vulnerability, prompting free software updates from General Motors, the IIHS said.
- On Thursday, Highway Loss Data Institute revealed that sixth-generation Camaros from model years 2022-2024 are 13 times more likely to be stolen, and the Camaro was the only sports car on the top 20 list.
- In explaining the trend, Matt Moore said `Muscle cars have often topped this list, as thieves are attracted to vehicles with high horsepower,` and cited cloned key fob exploits amid a reported technical glitch.
