American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE:AEO) Announces Quarterly Earnings Results, Beats Estimates By $0.57 EPS
On Wednesday, American Eagle Outfitters Inc. reported fiscal second-quarter earnings of 79 cents per share, beating the 21 cents consensus estimate, with revenue of $1.38 billion surpassing the $1.37 billion forecast.
The company reported tariff refunds of $196 million with a net operating income contribution of $161 million for the second quarter of 2026, driving the earnings beat.
Aerie and OFFLINE total revenue grew 25%, but American Eagle brand comparable sales decreased 2% as women's denim underperformed during the quarter.
CEO Jay Schottenstein said, "We know where the problem is. We are going to pivot," while flagging that late May showed encouraging momentum for the turnaround.
Shares of American Eagle Outfitters declined 11.78% in Wednesday's extended trading, with investors focused on whether the $390 million to $410 million full-year operating income guidance will be reaffirmed.
