Amber Alert Issued After Child Abducted in Kennewick WA; Suspect Car Heading in Unknown Direction
Authorities say the child was taken by a 41-year-old man and the pair left in an unknown vehicle, prompting a credible safety threat.
On Saturday, the Washington State Patrol issued an AMBER Alert after 4-year-old Grace Susmilch was "forcefully taken" from South Conway Place in Kennewick by 41-year-old Matthew Susmilch.
SWAT negotiations at a Kennewick apartment complex stretched until after 3 p.m. Saturday, when police discovered the suspect had escaped with the child.
Susmilch, wanted on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, and threats to kill, is subject to a 2024 protection order regarding Grace and her mother.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, police found Grace safe in Pasco following an intensive multi-agency search involving the Kennewick Police Department and Benton County Sheriff.
The suspect remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous, prompting authorities to urge anyone with information to immediately call 911.
