Constitution Day: President Droupadi Murmu to Lead Event at Iconic Central Hall
Nationwide events including quizzes and online readings promote civic engagement as President Murmu leads Constitution Day commemorations at historic Parliament venue.
- On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu will lead the national function in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs said.
- Since 2015, Constitution Day has been observed on November 26 to mark the Constituent Assembly adoption on November 26, 1949, with some provisions taking effect on January 26, 1950.
- The programme schedules addresses by the speaker and the vice president and includes the reading of the Preamble, with C P Radhakrishnan, Narendra Modi, and Om Birla expected to attend, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs said.
- Nationwide activities include quizzes, seminars, exhibitions and cultural competitions, with all Union ministries and state bodies organising programmes and citizens joining online Preamble readings on MyGov.in and Constitution75.com plus national quizzes and essay contests.
- A commemorative booklet on calligraphy will be released and the Legislative Department of the Union law ministry will digitally launch the Constitution of India in nine languages.
