Amazon Prime Air’s Drones Are Actually Now Delivering iPhones and AirTags to People – Here’s How It Works

Amazon Prime Air currently delivers over 60,000 types of products, including iPhones and AirTags, within an hour in parts of Texas and Arizona using MK30 drones.
This service follows the FAA's approval last year for Beyond Visual Line of Sight drone flights and over a decade of company experiments with drone delivery.
Prime Air operates only when forward-looking 75-minute weather forecasts predict suitable conditions and pauses service during heavy winds or adverse weather to avoid drone malfunctions.
When placing an order for items weighing five pounds or less, shoppers opt for drone delivery and specify a preferred drop-off site, after which the drone approaches to about 13 feet above ground to confirm the area is clear before completing the drop-off.
Although deliveries paused recently due to drone crashes, Amazon aims to scale Prime Air globally to deliver 500 million packages by 2030, indicating significant future logistics changes.
