Amazon plans to cut 15% of workforce in new round of layoffs

Amazon is preparing to cut as much as 15% of its human resources staff, targeting the People Experience Technology team, sources told Fortune, though timing and exact numbers remain unclear.
This year, Amazon accelerated its shift toward AI and cloud, prompting workforce changes as CEO Andy Jassy said AI will reduce the total corporate workforce over time.
Earlier this year, Amazon trimmed staff in its consumer devices unit, Wondery podcast division, and AWS, while Jassy previously cut at least 27,000 corporate jobs years ago.
Contrastingly, Amazon will hire 250,000 seasonal employees across its US warehouses and logistics networks, announced Tuesday, despite reports of layoffs in other customer-focused divisions.
