The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a total fine of ₹25 lakh on Amazon, Flipkart and JioMart for illegal sale and advertisement of an unregistered agro-chemical product called 'Cyclocinone Herbicide'.
The CCPA noted that the marketplace did not conduct adequate independent verification of the product's regulatory status before making the listing live. This has led to this action by the CCPA.
