On Monday, the criminal court in Bogotá has to render its verdict in the long-awaited trial of former President Alvaro Uribe. Accused of suborning witnesses, procedural fraud and fraud at trial, the former head of state (in power between 2002 and 2010) risks between six and twelve years in prison. He could become the first Colombian president sentenced to criminal punishment.
