Woman Claims She Reported 49ers Impersonator to Team Months Before Arrest
- On Tuesday, Gwen Herndon told ESPN she submitted a complaint to the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 20, 2025, warning that 35-year-old Daejon Love was impersonating a player, yet the team apparently did little with the information.
- Federal authorities arrested Daejon Love and 18-year-old Taylor Chan last month at the Boise, Idaho airport, charging both with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
- Love portrayed himself on Instagram as a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, while Chan posed as his financial adviser to solicit funds for fictitious investments, allegedly defrauding more than 20 women out of approximately $1.3 million.
- The FBI said last week that 35 additional women have come forward claiming they were scammed, bringing the total number of alleged victims to more than 60.
- Portland FBI Special Agent in Charge Doug Olson warned that this fraud "could be replicated by other individuals," while investigators verify whether the 35 recently identified women were actually victimized by the pair.
