Alleged N110.4bn Fraud: Witness reveals payment of tax consultancy commission to Kogi govt

- On Wednesday, the 18th prosecution witness, Philip Kuma, testified in the N110 billion fraud trial of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello that he shared commissions with "stakeholders" while consulting for the state revenue service.
- Kuma, owner of Bespoque Business Solutions Limited and Bespoque Global Concepts, explained he paid a share of his commission through former Kogi State Internal Revenue Service chairperson Yakubu Hussaini to fulfill a consultancy agreement.
- Under cross-examination by defense lawyer Paul Daudu, Kuma stated the defendants were not privy to the arrangement and his company was unaware of the beneficiaries' identities.
- The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission also presented Bureau De Change operator Jamilu Abdullahi as the 19th prosecution witness on Wednesday, continuing the case against the defendants.
- Trial judge Maryann Anenih adjourned proceedings until October 14, as the case against former Governor Bello, Umar Shuaibu Oricha, and Abdulsalami Hudu continues on 16 counts of criminal breach of trust.
