Report: Texas LT Trevor Goosby Nursing Bone Bruise on Knee
An MRI confirmed the left-knee injury and ruled out structural damage, but Texas still does not know how long Goosby will be out.
On Tuesday, Texas offensive tackle Trevor Goosby was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee after undergoing an MRI. The injury occurred during Monday's practice, sources tell ESPN.
As the top offensive tackle prospect in the 2027 NFL draft, Goosby protects the blindside of quarterback Arch Manning for the Texas Longhorns. He earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2025 after allowing just one sack on 807 snaps.
Bone bruises typically require two to eight weeks to heal depending on severity, leaving Goosby's status for the Week 2 matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes uncertain. Return timetable has not been determined.
If Goosby misses time, the Longhorns may shift Wake Forest transfer Melvin Siani to left tackle or move Brandon Baker to cover the position. Head coach Steve Sarkisian called Siani a "tough-ass run blocker" on Monday.
With Texas ranked as a favorite for the National Championship, the Longhorns aim to manage Goosby's recovery carefully rather than rush him back. Maintaining roster health is essential for navigating the team's challenging schedule this season.
