- On Sunday, Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber police took Hindutva ideologue T.G. Mohandas into custody at his Mattancherry residence in Kochi over inflammatory remarks allegedly made in YouTube videos about Delhi student protests.
- Mohandas allegedly claimed in videos that student protesters at Jantar Mantar "could lead to incidents of gang rape" and suggested authorities "open fire" to control crowds, sparking widespread public outrage.
- Police registered a case under Sections 192 and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as the Information Technology Act, for provocation with intent to cause a riot and disturbing public tranquillity.
- BJP state general secretary S. Suresh called the arrest "highly condemnable," alleging diversion from flood relief failures, while Congress leader K.C. Venugopal criticized earlier police delays in taking action.
- The All-India Feminist Alliance demanded the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh provide "written and public condemnation" of Mohandas by Independence Day, warning they will "read the silence as an answer" if no response comes.
