All Frock and Bubble at Parliament's Night of Nights
The annual fundraiser brings together politicians, journalists and corporate figures for roast speeches and charity bidding, with more than $5.8 million raised since 2000.
On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, politicians, journalists, and corporate figures gathered at Parliament House in Canberra for the annual Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery Midwinter Ball, themed the "Canberra Bubble."
This annual fundraiser has generated more than $5.8 million for charity since 2000, with attendees bidding $16,500 for tennis with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and $3,000 for a floating sauna with Senator David Pocock.
Victorian Animal Justice MP Georgie Purcell stole the limelight wearing a gown featuring "Defund dog racing," while Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Opposition Leader Angus Taylor prepared customary self-deprecating roast speeches under strict off-the-record rules.
Opposition Leader Taylor and his wife Louise Clegg attended the event, while Labor MP Josh Burns joined Purcell, with Taylor offering a meal at his southern NSW home as an auction prize for $5,000.
The exclusive event, restricted to 640 partygoers, remains a fixture in the Canberra calendar, attracting senior members of all federal parliamentary parties alongside corporate heads and press gallery journalists.
