'The Hunger Games' Films Will Return to Theaters Ahead of 'Sunrise on the Reaping'
Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment will screen one original film each day and include an exclusive preview of the next installment.
- Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment are re-releasing all five Hunger Games films in theaters this September, giving fans a chance to revisit the complete saga before the next installment arrives.
- Screenings will run from September 3–7, with each film playing on the big screen for one day. The lineup features the original trilogy and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
- Every screening features an exclusive sneak peek of Sunrise on the Reaping, premiering November 20. Kevin Grayson, president of Worldwide Distribution for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said the partnership gives "audiences the opportunity to experience all five original films together in theaters."
- Suzanne Collins' bestselling book series provided the foundation for the 2012 adaptation starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. The series became a box-office hit, sparking a boom for dystopian young adult stories.
- The upcoming film Sunrise on the Reaping adapts the latest prequel novel, set 24 years before the original trilogy's events. It follows a young Haymitch Abernathy, a character originally played by Woody Harrelson in the films.
