Alibaba's New AI Model Runs 8x Faster While Sentiment Hits 60.6

Alibaba's Qwen3.5 model offers visual agentic functions, is 60% cheaper, and processes large workloads eight times faster, aiming to boost developer efficiency.

  • Claiming major cost and speed gains, Alibaba unveiled Qwen3.5, which it said is 60pc cheaper to use and eight times better at processing large workloads.
  • Alibaba built Qwen3.5 on a hybrid architecture with 397bn total parameters activating only 17bn per pass, which Alibaba said optimises speed.
  • Adding visual agentic features, the model also ranks higher than OpenAI's GPT-5.2, Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.5, and Google's Gemini 3 Pro in several tests, reports say.
  • Built for the agentic AI era, Qwen3.5 helps developers and enterprises move faster and do more with the same compute, while the agentic chatbot service has close to 200m users.
  • Recently, other Chinese AI firms launched new models including Zhipu's GLM-5, MiniMax's M2.5, Moonshot AI's Kimi K2.5, and ByteDance upgraded Doubao ahead of DeepSeek's V4 this month.
