Friday's sour trading in AI-related stocks brings back memories of January 2025 when Chinese Deepseek's success with its cheap AI model sent Nvidia's stock down 17 percent, Bloomberg reports. "It's the best Chinese model ever," says manager Leonid Mironov of Chinese Moonshot's language model, which is said to be half as expensive as the American ones.
Despite US restrictions on semiconductors, China accelerates in artificial intelligence by relying on a new wave of champions able to compete with Silicon Valley giants.
