Philippine No. 1 Alexandra Eala will not face any financial sanctions or fines from the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) after she decided to skip the mandatory WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing to compete in the Nagoya Asian Games, Philippine Tennis Association (PhilTA) executive director Tonet Mendoza confirmed during a hearing before the Senate Sports Committee.

"No. I don't regret anything," was the direct response of Filipino tennis player Alex Eala, who could face a very heavy fine. The reason for this is quite unusual. She chose to represent the Philippines at the Asian Games instead of playing in the tournament in Beijing. Therefore, she could face a rather heavy fine.
