CHP leader Özgür Özel alleged that businessman Murat Kapki, arrested in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality investigation, was coerced by AKP lawyer Mücahit Birinci into giving testimony targeting İmamoğlu and Ongun and demanded $2 million. Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç rejected the allegations, saying, "This is a conversation between a lawyer and his client. What does it have to do with the judiciary or the prosecutor?"
AKP lawyer Mücahit Birinci responded to the allegations of slander and bribery against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality detainees, made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
CHP leader Özgür Özel released the statement defendant businessman Murat Kapki gave to the Tekirdağ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The document included AKP lawyer Mücahit Birinci's request for money. Birinci threatened Özel on social media. Özel responded.
