FedEx Freight Holding Set to Join Dow Jones Transportation Average
FedEx Freight Holding will replace American Airlines in the price-weighted index as FedEx spins off its freight unit, with the divisor adjusted to prevent distortion.
On Monday, June 1, 2026, FedEx Freight Holding Company Inc. will replace American Airlines Group Inc. in the Dow Jones Transportation Average effective prior to market open.
The change follows FedEx Corp. spinning off FedEx Freight Holding Company in a transaction expected to complete June 1, with parent FedEx remaining in the index.
Because the Dow Jones Transportation Average is a price-weighted index, American Airlines Group carries minimal weight of less than one-half of one percentage point.
S&P Dow Jones Indices will adjust the divisor used to calculate index component prices prior to the market opening on June 1, 2026.
Beginning on Friday, May 29, 2026, market participants can access the new divisor through end-of-day index level files via the S&P Dow Jones Indices FTP site.
