Airbnb deploys anti-party technology ahead of July 4 weekend
Airbnb said its updated screening blocked or redirected more than 20,000 U.S. guests from entire-home bookings during last year’s July 4 weekend.
- Ahead of the July 4 holiday weekend, Airbnb is deploying anti-party screening technology across the U.S. using machine learning to identify and block higher-risk bookings that could lead to disruptive parties.
- Deployed for the fifth consecutive year, the system redirected more than 20,000 guests from higher-risk bookings during the 2025 holiday weekend, according to Rog Kaiser, vice president of fraud and safety operations at Airbnb.
- Last year's screening blocked approximately 3,100 bookings in Florida, 3,100 in Texas, and 2,500 in California. The company reports fewer than 0.06% of U.S. stays resulted in a party report during 2025.
- Guests flagged as high risk may be redirected to private rooms or hotels instead of entire homes. Airbnb prohibits account holders under 18 from booking and requires adults present for the entire stay.
- Beyond automated screening, Airbnb provides a 24-Hour Safety Line for guests and hosts to reach support staff. Local residents can report unauthorized parties through a dedicated Neighborhood Support Line.
