On Tuesday, 22 July, LUFC-Que Choisir launched a group lawsuit against Stellantis seeking compensation for consumers whose vehicle was detained following the Takata airbag scandal.
This is the first group action in France in connection with the fatal airbag scandal. The UFC-Que Choisir association aims at the Stellantis automotive group and demands in particular daily financial compensation for every day of immobilization of the vehicles of the injured French. The association seeks a series of compensations for various damages, including a daily allowance for the duration of the vehicle's immobilization or for moral damage suffered by consumers.

This is the first class action brought in France regarding these defective airbags, which have been responsible for at least 60 deaths in 11 countries over the past 15 years, including 18 in France.
The association intends to claim from the French manufacturer compensation for the owners of vehicles subject to forced immobilization at the request of the government. At least three of the motorists killed in recent years by defective Japanese airbags were driving a Citroën C3.
