AirAsia Bhd is nearing an agreement to buy dozens more Airbus SE single-aisle aircraft in a deal that could be announced during Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s state visit to France this week, according to people familiar with the matter.
Air Asia is holding talks with Airbus on the conversion of existing aircraft orders into the A321 XLR long-haul model. A conclusion could already be reached this week. Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandes is looking for a hub in the Middle East for his expansion plans.
