As of Monday, June 1, the airline ticket tax falls by 65% on 26 regional routes in France. The government hopes to increase the accessibility of the less well-served territories and support regional air transport.
The government announced on Sunday the reduction of a tax on airline tickets for cities in France that are underserved by transport and for certain external connections.
The government decided to cancel the increase in the tax on air tickets, which had increased to €7.40 in 2025, but only for inland lines. A decision in favour of the desenclaved territories, according to the executive, which left environmental associations perplexed.
As of Monday, 1 June, 26 French air routes subject to a public service obligation benefit from a 65% reduction in the solidarity tax on air tickets (TSBA). This measure, voted in February 2025 but applied only 15 months later, aims to support the service of the most isolated territories while easing passengers' bills.
The Minister of Transport, Philippe Tabarot, announces the reduction of the TSBA for 26 air routes from 1 June 2026.
