Air Force One jets to be repainted in Trump’s preferred colors
The Air Force replaces Kennedy-era colors with Trump’s red, white, gold, and dark blue scheme on executive jets, including a Qatari-donated 747, starting mid-February 2026.
- On February 17, 2026, the U.S. Air Force announced it is replacing the Kennedy-era robin's-egg blue with dark navy blue, deep red and gold across the presidential and executive VIP fleet, including the donated Qatari 747 and two Boeing VC-25B conversions.
- During President Donald Trump's first term, he pushed the red, white and blue VC-25B livery, but former President Joe Biden's 2022 decision rejected it over cost and thermal concerns.
- At Greenville, Texas, L3Harris is repainting and upgrading the C-32 aircraft during scheduled maintenance, with the first completed and returning to the fleet within months.
- Years of delays have left the VC-25B program with delivery expected in 2028, over $5 billion spent by Boeing, and a $400 million purchase of two used 747-8 aircraft for training and spares.
- Marking a visible break with tradition, some government aircraft already wear the new scheme, and the Qatari-donated 747 is expected to be ready by this summer, drawing criticism from Democrats.
