Air Force Does Not Complete a Pass, Beats Northern Illinois in the Huskies' First Mountain West Game
Evan Medders is expected to start for Air Force as the Falcons lean on a run-heavy attack that ranks second nationally.
- On Saturday, Air Force defeated Northern Illinois 28-7 at Huskie Stadium, led by sophomore quarterback Evan Medders making his starting debut. Medders replaced junior Liam Szarka, sidelined with a leg injury sustained against Navy.
- Interim head coach Rob Harley emphasized the Falcons' run-heavy scheme required discipline to execute against the winless Huskies. "It's going to take a lot of violence, it's going to take a lot of communication and physicality," Harley said.
- Medders ran 16 times for 114 yards while Owen Allen added 13 carries for 100 yards. The duo combined for over 200 yards rushing and four touchdowns powering Air Force's ground attack.
- This victory improves Air Force to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Mountain West Conference. Northern Illinois remains winless at 0-5 after the lopsided defeat at home.
- Air Force hosts UNLV on October 17, while Northern Illinois travels to face Wyoming that same day. The Huskies seek their first victory of the season.
