Aide to Alaska lawmaker charged with sex trafficking, other federal sex crimes involving a minor
Craig Scott Valdez faces federal charges for exploiting at least 12 minors via social media, including child sex trafficking and production of child pornography, prosecutors said.
- On Tuesday, a federal grand jury indicted Craig Scott Valdez, 36, on 4 counts including sex trafficking of children, and prosecutors say he was arrested Friday in Juneau.

- He is being held in custody at Lemon Creek Correctional Center and has a first court appearance set for Monday, facing 15 years to life if convicted.
- Investigators from the FBI Anchorage Field Office and Anchorage Police Department are probing the case through the Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, while the Alaska Republican Party and Anchorage Young Republicans removed Valdez from all positions.
