Ahmedabad, India recommended to host 2030 Commonwealth Games
- On Oct 15, the Commonwealth Sport Executive Board recommended Ahmedabad, India as host for the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games following an evaluation by the Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee, with final approval due at the General Assembly in Glasgow on November 26, 2025.
- The Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee assessed bids from Ahmedabad, India, and Abuja, Nigeria, on technical readiness, athlete experience, infrastructure, governance, and Commonwealth Sport values framed by the 'Games Reset' principles.
- Dr P T Usha said, `It would be an extraordinary honour for India to host the Centenary Commonwealth Games in Amdavad`, highlighting India's rich sporting history and the 2030 opportunity as a significant national milestone.
- As concerns rose that Glasgow 2026 might be the last edition, the Commonwealth Sport Executive Board will continue working with Nigeria to help realise its ambition for future Games, including potential 2034 consideration, while the Scottish city hosts a pared-down event next year after Victoria withdrew.
- Marking a centenary, the 2030 Games will commemorate 100 years since the inaugural event in Hamilton, Canada, and India, which hosted in Delhi in 2010, pledged a diverse celebration.
