The Wikimedia Foundation has confirmed the activities of rogue AI agents on Wikipedia. The agents caused massive traffic spikes, partial system crashes, and attempted to hack tools, but did not compromise public pages.
IA agents in connection with the OpenAI environment are said to have a suspicious activity according to the Wikimedia Foundation. Various services of the Foundation, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata or Wikipedia have been targeted by millions of queries. Currently, this is not a cyberattack, as the data have not been compromised and no hacking of systems has occurred.
