- Food Safety and Standards Regulations prohibiting misleading claims came into force July 1, 2019, with a prohibitory order against pan masala and related tobacco items in place in Maharashtra since 2012.
- Mundhe emphasized that "Everybody across the chain is responsible. It applies to all," applying regulations to everyone involved in creating, publishing or sponsoring advertisements and claims.
- The agency's complaints portal resolved over 8,000 public grievances in one month, with Mundhe noting that 9,000 or more complaints have been received while almost 700 to 800 remain under process.
- Beyond surrogate advertisements, the FDA is combating illegal tobacco trade through smuggling investigations and lodging FIRs, with Mundhe declaring "Nobody is going to be spared, whether rural or urban.
