Aurélien Lechevallier finally obtained his approval from the American authorities to become French ambassador to Washington. His appointment was blocked since the end of July, after a diplomatic jam triggered by a critical message from the French mission to the UN on human rights in the United States.
His post in the United States had been hampered since the end of July by diplomatic interference between the two countries.
