Following the uproar over the appointment of Major General David Zini to head the Shin Bet, Knesset member and former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot sent an "open letter" to Zini, in which he calls on him to reject the appointment: "I know that you have the wisdom to choose the right thing to do."

Prof. Ariel Porat sent a scathing letter to Major General David Zini following his appointment as head of the Shin Bet. In the letter, he called on him to withdraw his candidacy for fear of destruction: "Please prevent a national disaster that could befall us if your appointment is made."
