LESOTHO, AUG 6 – Prince Harry resigned after a Charity Commission probe cleared him of bullying claims but criticized all parties for harming Sentebale’s reputation, which supports 78,000 young people annually.
- Earlier this year, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho resigned from their roles at Sentebale, saying they resigned ‘with heavy hearts’ in a joint statement.
- Accusing her colleagues of poor governance, Dr Sophie Chandauka alleged bullying, harassment and misogyny at Sentebale earlier this year, raising concerns of abuse of power and misogynoir.
- On August 5, the Charity Commission found no evidence of systemic bullying or harassment but criticized unclear delegations to the chair, acknowledging the perception of ill treatment.
- A spokesman for Prince Harry said the Duke will focus on finding new ways to support children of Lesotho and Botswana and will not return to Sentebale soon.
- The Charity Commission issued an action plan requiring governance reforms at Sentebale, now led by Dr Sophie Chandauka, which aims to help at least 78,000 children in 2025.
