Landesverband Brandenburg: Constitutional Protection Suspends AfD Upgrade for the Time Being

Brandenburg's constitutional protection no longer refers to the AfD as secure right-wing extremist until further notice.

The classification of the AfD Brandenburg as a secure right-wing extremist endeavour has been suspended for the time being by the Brandenburger Verfassungsschutz. Background is a lawsuit brought by the AfD before an administrative court.

For the time being, the AfD Brandenburg continues to be regarded as a suspected case. The constitutional protection suspended the upgrading as "secured right-wing extremist".

The AfD-Landesverband in Brandenburg is for the time being not classified by the constitutional protection as "secured right-wing extremist". Previously, the association had sued.

Brandenburg's constitutional protection no longer refers to the AfD as a secure right-wing extremist for the time being. After a lawsuit by the party, the intelligence service issued a so-called standstill declaration - similar to what had already happened at the federal level.

A good two weeks ago it became known that the constitutional protection in Brandenburg classifies the AfD as right-wing extremist. This is now over again - at least until there is legal clarification.
