White Goes Deep Twice as the Braves Beat the Reds in Rain-Delayed MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol
SULLIVAN COUNTY, TENNESSEE, AUG 3 – The game was delayed twice by rain after one out in the first inning and is set to resume Sunday with over 85,000 tickets sold, MLB said.
- Fans can tune in at 1 p.m. ET Sunday on FOX when the MLB Speedway Classic resumes after being suspended with one out in the first inning.
- Rain showers prompted a two-hour and 17-minute delay Saturday night, leaving only one and a third innings before resurgent rain halted play at Bristol Motor Speedway.
- Cincinnati opened scoring with three consecutive singles from Matt McLain, Elly De La Cruz and Austin Hays, and Chase Burns struck out two in a perfect first inning.
- Officials announced Monday that over 85,000 tickets had been sold, surpassing 84,587, but many fans left before the 10:30 p.m. ET postponement.
- Nearly a year ago, Commissioner Rob Manfred announced plans for the Speedway Classic, the first Major League Baseball game in Tennessee, as part of MLB's expansion efforts.
