The United Nations says Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers have detained two Afghan members of the U.N. political mission in the country.
Two members of the United Nations mission in Afghanistan were detained by the intelligence services of the Taliban government without any formal charges against them, informed the UN to the AFP on Tuesday. The arrests took place on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the Taliban's return to power, after Kabul's seizure on 15 August 2021 and the Afghan president's escape, supported by the United States and a Western coalition.
