Afghan asylum-seeker dies in ICE custody, US advocacy group says

  • 1- Mohommad Nazeer Paktyawal, an Afghan immigrant who previously worked with the U.S. military in Afghanistan, died in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in Texas less than 24 hours after his detention. 2- Paktyawal was living in a Dallas suburb with his wife and six children while his asylum case was still pending. 3- He was arrested by federal agents outside his apartment while taking his children to school, according to AfghanEvac president Shawn VanDiver.
